During the 2019 Indiana legislative session, a casino license was up for grabs for an equipped community. On the verge of economic development and tourism, Terre Haute and Vigo County believed they were ready for an opportunity like this. Paired with full-fledged lobbying and advocacy work, the community could not approach this without a comprehensive marketing and communication strategy.
RJL Solutions, in partnership with the city, county and chamber, developed the “Terre Haute Is All In” campaign. Themed with casino games in mind, Terre Haute was definitely dealt cards worthy of playing. The campaign included full grassroots efforts, including social media, a landing page, print materials and handouts for the statehouse, letters to the editor, and loads of people from the community lining the halls of the statehouse prepared to testify for why Terre Haute was deserving of the license.
Ultimately, the legislation was passed and Terre Haute was granted the license after a successful session and referendum. To date, the community is prepared for the opening of the new casino in early 2024.
